Most Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between a semi adjustable bed and a fully electric adjustable bed?
Semi-electric beds: the head and foot are electric and controlled by the remote. Changing the overall height of the bed is done by a crank at the foot.
Fully electric beds: the head and foot AND the height of the bed is controlled by the remote.
Both beds are identical in appearance and dimensions. If changing the height of the bed frequently is needed for caregivers or other physical requirements, a fully-electric bed may be a better choice.
What happens if the bed I buy breaks?
Hospital beds are modular & well made, so we don’t get repair requests often. But we can repair the beds we have sold. We occasionally have availability and parts for other beds as well so please call to inquire. We offer a 30 day warranty. After that, if there is a problem just call us and we’ll work it out.
Can I rent a bed?
We offer short term rentals with a rent to own option. Rentals can be very convenient for vacation homes, hotels or private residences. Delivery is included.
Can I get my money back when we don’t need it anymore? Do you buy them back?
No, we do not buy equipment. However, donations are tax deductible because we are a 501 c(3) nonprofit.
Is buying a bed covered by my insurance? Will Medicare pay for it?
We do not take insurance or Medicare. All purchases and rentals are private pay only. Agencies like the ALS Association, MDA, Senior Resources or others can buy a bed for their client from us.
How long does it take for Medicare to get me a bed?
Typically 6 to 8 weeks, but with the recent changes to Medicare and insurance, we find that many people can’t wait and some people are denied coverage unless all of their criteria are met. We can get you a bed usually in a week or less.
I bought a very expensive Craftmatic adjustable bed, can I donate it?
We only accept home hospital beds, not Craftmatic style adjustable beds where the height isn’t adjustable and they are covered with fabric.
What size sheets fit the bed?
The hospital beds we carry are “extra-long twin” size. The mattress are 36″ wide and 80″ long. There are also 84” beds available for taller folks. Bariatric beds are available as well, they are 42” or 48” wide.
What are the dimensions of the bed? How much space do I need in the room?
The bed is 36” wide by 88” long. An extra foot of space around the sides and foot of the bed for set up and access is desirable.
Do you keep beds on display? Can I come see them?
We don’t have a showroom, but we can send pictures of our beds and we offer a 30 day warranty. After that, if there is a problem just call us and we will work it out.
Can I buy an old bed, but a new mattress?
Yes. All beds come with a reusable foam mattress, vinyl coated, unless otherwise specified. We offer new mattresses at cost from a local vendor if preferred.
Will you come pick up the bed when we’re done with it?
Yes, after you’re done with the bed you can donate it back to us – we offer free pickup of donated items. And it’s tax deductible!
How does the hospital bed fit through the door, upstairs, etc?
Any area we can walk through, we can carry the pieces of a bed. The beds are modular and are designed for one person to be able to deliver and set them up.
Do you have the kind of mattress that prevents bedsores?
Yes, alternating pressure and low air loss mattresses are available at an additional fee. Call for details and availability.
